The Arts Council greatly supports the addition of a restroom building at the location that you have proposed. It would be a huge help. My preference would be the rendering with the pergola--I think it fits in perfectly with the landscape of the park and nicely compliments the other structures at WPCP. We have many outdoor events planned at the park coming up including annual sculptural exhibitions and food truck events, and more permanent restroom facilities are a welcomed addition. We also see a lot of runners and park visitors that use our facility solely for the restrooms, which are inadequate to serve a large volume of visitors. Adding the new outdoor restroom facility will eliminate a lot of the wear and tear on our facilities and better serve park visitors. Right now the Arts Center is considered the public restroom for a majority of visitors to WPCP. The public will greatly benefit from this addition during Christmas at the Creek and the Halloween events at WPCP as well. The restrooms at the Arts Center can't adequately handle the large volume of traffic from these events and porta-cans don't provide adequate access for visitors with mobility issues or parents with young children. Lastly, I like the fact that there will be a 24/7 restroom option for patrons visiting the park. We are not open on Saturdays after 2pm and all day on Sunday, and the park is always full of people at those times. When the weather is nice, the park is always full in the evenings as well. I frequently work at the Arts Center on weeknights and weekends when we are closed to the public and there is always a stream of joggers and park goers trying to get into the Arts Center to use the restrooms. We are excited that Parks is proposing this new facility and hope that it becomes a reality soon. Thanks!
