1. Please add a note stating the proposed canopy trees that are replacing the existing trees being
removed for the construction of the splash pad will be 3.5" in caliper or larger in accordance with
the requirements of the previously approved landscape plan. Proposed canopy trees have been
labeled 3.5"caliper minimum.

2. Please note and revise accordingly: The Splash Pad shall be a closed system(pump&filter
system)with an isolation valve that can be opened to discharge water from the closed system to
the sanitary sewer line. Isolation valve shall be kept closed to prevent rain/storm water from
entering the sanitary sewer. (According to 2012 IPC, and indirect waste with an air gap is
required for swimming pools, backwash filter systems, pool decks, and similar applications like
the Splash Pad. Section 802.2.1 of the 2012 IPC: "The 'air gap' between the indirect waste pipe
and the flood level rim of the waste receptor shall be not less than twice the effective opening of
the indirect waste pipe". The waste receptor(sanitary sewer inlet) shall be trapped and protected
from rainfall.) Note 6 has been added to site specific notes.

Subject: Castle Rock Splash Pad Addition
Good Morning Deven,
I sincerely apologize for the significant delay in getting comments out to you regarding this project. After reviewing the
plans there is only one additional note I need added to the Landscape Plan.
Please add a note stating the proposed canopy trees that are replacing the existing trees being removed for the
construction of the splash pad will be 3.5" in caliper or larger in accordance with the requirements of the previously
approved landscape plan.
Carol also commented the following:
Please note and revise accordingly:The Splash Pad shall be a closed system (pump &filter system)with an isolation
valve that can be opened to discharge water from the closed system to the sanitary sewer line. Isolation valve shall be
kept closed to prevent rain/storm water from entering the sanitary sewer. (According to 2012 IPC, and indirect waste

waste receptor shall be not less than twice the effective opening of the indirect waste pipe".The waste receptor
(sanitary sewer inlet) shall be trapped and protected from rainfall.)
Please address these comments and submit one revised set of the construction drawings including the revised site and
landscape plans. If you have any further questions please feel free to contact me.
Thank you,
Mark Bombek
