It can be clearly represented as an alteration to the facade and not part of the original facade. The unnecessary hardship (s) involved by meeting the provisions of the ordinance other than financial hardship is/are: The following alternatives to the requested variance are possible: Setting back the railings & structures to be out of view from the surrounding streets/right of ways. An acceptable material for the railing that would allow it to be placed at or near the edge of the facade and still maintain the "historic" character of the facade.
