He is going to call back to schedule a meeting to talk about alternatives although I'm not sure when that will be. I'll let you know if I hear from him again. (ZBA) - Variance we are writing this letter in an effort to appeal the decision made by the Zoning Board of Adjustments on June 5, 2007. we understand that after analyzing all of our special conditions that the board and staff were not able to find any hardhsips that would allow the Hampton Inn to add an LED display to its current sign. However, we would like to discuss the alternatives recommended by the staff. The recommendation of placing a 40 square foot reader-board in such a way that meets the maximum area of 200 square feet. we would like to have the opportunity to discuss our options with the Zoning Board of Adjustments at the nearest possible date. (show) that had an overall height of 35 feet. = Allowable height is based on distance from the curb (height = 1/2 4' '')/ distance) and allowable area is based on the amount of frontage that a site has. In this case, with just over 350 feet, up to 200 square feet in area is allowed. The application was not approved since it exceeded the amount of allowable sign area and that in order to achieve a sign height of 35 feet, they must be 70 feet back from the curb. The sign for Hampton Inn was eventually approved with 160 square feet in area for just the Hampton Inn sign, 25 feet-fron ► the curb. However, the sign design was not revised to reflect re o in ..te readerboard and the sign was constructed with the Brea in-aided, despite staff' denying this portion of the signermit. The area for the readerboard was required to be blacked out instead of reconstructing the e sign) Ie-mord The applicant now wishes to utilize this readerboard area which requires a variance of 88 square feet to the maximum allowable freestanding sign area. , Staff recommends denial of this request due to a lack of property specific special condition or hardship, and that the deteriorating sign is,self-inflicted:hay45N knavt15 Vuo hvf I#- v410 si-a-ei, yvuva,t J, This item is set for a public hearing, I have not received any phone calls regarding this case. 1 l 01 ;
