GENERAL APPEALS/WAIVER REQUEST
The following specific variation from the ordinance is requested:
To allow a sidewalk on College Main to be less than the required 10'-0:" wide as stipulated in the
UDO. The width of the existing walk shall be matched. And Wavier of Section 5.3.B.3.b to
preserve the character of a historic building.
The unnecessary hardship (s) involved by meeting the provisions of the ordinance other than
financial hardship is/are:
The current design fits into an area that required no demoltion of the historical structure. If the new
construction is forced back 2'-0", it will require the demolition of and existing exterior wall. This wall
is part of the exsitinq historical structure and also a load bearing masonry wall. The current design
allows for no demolition of this kind, but merely fills the space left by the existing structures. Also if
pushed back 2'-0" to allow for a 10' sidewalk, the connection to the exsitinq building may not meet
code requirements for egress. The addition will be a strive to be a seamless addition to the historic
building and maintain the overall intergrity of the character of the entire facade along College
Main.
