Summary: This rezoning request is to allow for the future Phase 7 of the Edelweiss Gartens Subdivision. The request would convert two A-O Agricultural Open rural tracts and a portion of the right-of-way for Renee Lane into R-1 Single Family residential zoning. Although the rezoning of the Renee Lane Right-of-Way was initiated by the Administrator and included as part of this request, it does not presume approval of a right-of-way abandonment request, which will be scheduled for consideration on a future Council agenda. Item Summary: The applicant's intent is to continue the growth of Edelweiss Gartens in College Station and to rezone the A-O Agricultural Open rural tracts into R-1 Single Family lots. The rezoning of the Renee Lane Right-of-Way is not an approval of the right-of-way abandonment. The right-of-way will be submitted to the City Council for consideration through an abandonment ordinance. Comprehensive Plan Considerations: The Land Use Plan shows this area as Single Family Residential Medium Density. The property will have access via Renee Lane, which is classified as a residential street on the thoroughfare plan. The zone request from A-O to R-1 is in compliance with the City's Comprehensive Plan; therefore, staff is recommending approval of the zone change. Item Background: The subject property was annexed into the City of College Station City Limits June of 1995 and was platted June 1973. The intent is to include lots 4 and 5 in the preliminary plat for Edelweiss Subdivision Phases 6-12 that will be coming before the Commission for approval in the near future. Commission Action Options: The Commission acts as a recommending body on the question of rezoning, which will be ultimately decided by City Council. The Commission options are: 1.
